We want to offer our congratulations to the graduating class of the English Access Microscholarship Program in Kraljevo and Novi Pazar! A closing ceremony was held on Wednesday, 13 December 2023, at the Cultural Center in Novi Pazar and on Thursday, 14 December 2023, at Sveti Sava Primary School in Kraljevo. At the ceremonies, the Cultural Attaché, Ms Holly Zardus, presented certificates to the graduates who had completed the two-year Access program.
The events were attended by Ivana Milošević, Access Serbia Program Coordinator, a professor of English, and the President of the English Language Teachers’ Association of Serbia – ELTA, as well as Dragana Obradović, U.S. Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy.
All the attendees had the opportunity to enjoy an exciting program that the students performed for their parents, schoolteachers, and other distinguished guests.
We would also like to express our sincere appreciation to the American Corner in Novi Pazar and Dimitrije Tucovic Primary School in Kraljevo for their invaluable support over the past two years.
The Access program is funded by the U.S. Department of State and implemented by the U.S. Embassy in Serbia and the English Language Teachers’ Association – ELTA Serbia. It provides 13-15-year-olds from disadvantaged backgrounds with two years of English language instruction. Access students acquire English language skills, improve their knowledge of American culture, and develop greater sensitivity to cultural differences through after-school courses, intensive summer sessions, cultural activities, and enhancement seminars.
We take pride in our support of these students in this initiative and are excited to hear about their future successes. Remember, Access is #MoreThanEnglish!
