Sharing Conference Materials

Dear ELTA member/presenter,
Our conference was a great success and all the workshops and presentations made a difference in how we teach English.
Now we would like to share all the materials from the conference with wider audience. If you have presented at the conference, we would like to use your PowerPoint presentations, videos, handouts and other materials which you used in your presentation and post it all on SEETA website where English teachers from the whole region would be able to access it.
Also, if you have photos from the conference, we are currently preparing a picture gallery for our website and facebook page, and your pictures could become a part of it.
Please send all your materials to elta.kancelarija@gmail.com

IATEFL BESIG Workshop in Belgrade

IATEFL BESIG Workshop

25 February 2012

with Carl Dowse

An English teacher’s digital toolkit: A practical guide

This workshop is for Business English teachers just starting out, or wishing to refresh their  knowledge of using online tools and resources. It will look at a  range of applications, both familiar and less so, that make the organization, sharing and delivering of their web-based teaching materials easier and more effective. Topics to be covered are:

  • Managing the web – rather than it managing you!
  • Google docs – an introduction to cloud computing for teaching purposes
  • Wikis – a simple and effective way of creating virtual learning environments
  • YouTube – practical advice on getting the most from this video sharing website
  • Mobile learning – a brief introduction

Participants will gain hands on experience of using a variety of  powerful web-based tools that can be used to enhance learning in and beyond the classroom.

Carl Dowse has been involved in English language teaching over 20 years, and currently has a full-timelectureship at the Hochschule fur Ökonomie & Management in Essen, Germany, with overall responsibility for undergraduate business English  courses. Carl  has a keen interest in the use of ICT in language teaching and is a member of the Consultants-E teacher training team and moderates a number of courses including an online version of the Cert  IBET and Moodle training  courses. Carl  also writes teaching materials and develops teacher training materials for world-wide use within the British Council. He is currently the Web Coordinator for the IATEFL Business English Special Interest Group.

To enrol for the conference, please contact Akos Gerold, the IATEFL BESIG Development Coordinator at akos.gerold@besig.org. As the overall number of places and the number of available desktop computers is limited, all participants are kindly asked to bring their laptops if they have one. Please indicate whether you are coming with a laptop when enrolling  for the workshop. The workshop is free of charge, and applications will be processed on a first come – first served basis.
