Integrating CLIL for Deeper Learning

Integrating CLIL for Deeper Learning

With support from the British Council, ELTA Serbia invites English language teachers from Serbia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo¹, Albania and Montenegro to join Integrating CLIL for Deeper Learning in Kragujevac from 4 to 6 December 2026.

Following two successful regional CLIL professional development programmes in the previous academic year, ELTA Serbia is bringing teachers together again to explore how subject content and English language learning can strengthen each other.

💡 CLIL in a real classroom

The programme will explore how an English language teacher can choose suitable content, support students with different levels of English and help students develop subject knowledge and language together. It will also consider how CLIL can encourage deeper thinking, communication and collaboration within the realities of a school curriculum.

👩‍🏫 Learning with a UK CLIL expert

Mr Keith Kelly, a UK CLIL expert, will lead the three-day, in-person training alongside the experienced ELTA Serbia trainer team. Each participant will have opportunities to ask questions, try practical approaches and consider how an idea could work with their own students.

🤝 A regional exchange of ideas

The programme will bring together teachers from different educational contexts across the Western Balkans. Workshops, collaborative activities and conversations with colleagues will offer space to compare classroom challenges and share approaches that have worked. Sometimes the most practical idea of the weekend comes from a conversation over coffee.

🏨 Participation and support

ELTA Serbia will cover accommodation, meals and transfers for selected participants.

Places are limited and will be allocated in the order eligible applications are received, subject to meeting the participation requirements. Each selected participant will receive an official Letter of Acceptance from ELTA Serbia.

The call welcomes an English language teacher who is curious about CLIL as well as one who has already tried a few CLIL activities. The point is to leave with practical ideas that fit the teacher’s own classroom.
