The conference gathered around 300 participants from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds, creating a lively professional space for exchange, learning, and connection. Participants attended five plenary talks and had the opportunity to meet more than 50 speakers from around the world.
The plenary speakers shared their perspectives on bridges, boundaries, and connections, discussing both classroom practices and educational policies. Through interactive workshops and sessions, participants exchanged practical teaching methodologies, lesson planning ideas, projects, and community based learning initiatives. It was a conference where the theme did not stay on the poster. It moved through the rooms, the sessions, and the conversations.
Valentina also reflects on important messages from the Opening Remarks. Ivana Milošević, ELTA President, emphasised that adaptability, empathy, and flexibility are key personal qualities for both teachers and learners in a world shaped by constant language challenges. These qualities, she noted, are essential for navigating education with confidence and care.
Another memorable moment came from Jan Witek, who pointed out that the teacher’s role is to build a bridge between what is taught and what students genuinely use in everyday life. His message highlighted the importance of equipping learners with future skills and keeping classroom practice closely connected to real communication. Valentina also found it meaningful to look back at the first coursebook and its cover as an early bridge to the English language, a small detail that many teachers will probably recognise with a smile.
