ELT for Sustainability Skopje 2026

What if language teaching could do more than build communication skills? What if it could also help build a more sustainable, equitable, and responsible world?

That is exactly the question at the heart of the ELT for Sustainability Conference, taking place on 19 September 2026 in Skopje, North Macedonia.

Bringing together educators, researchers, and changemakers from across the ELT community, this inspiring event invites participants to explore how English language teaching can contribute meaningfully to some of the most important conversations of our time.

Hosted at the Faculty of Philology “Blaze Koneski”, University Ss. Cyril and Methodius, the conference offers a unique opportunity to connect with colleagues who believe that language education can be a powerful force for positive change.

From sustainability literacy and social justice to environmental responsibility and innovative classroom practice, participants will discover practical ways to integrate sustainability themes into teaching, curriculum design, and teacher development.

The conference aims to:

  • Promote sustainability literacy in ELT contexts
  • Empower educators to integrate sustainability themes into language education
  • Foster international collaboration and professional exchange
  • Support the development of practical resources and sustainable teaching practices
