ELTA Serbia is pleased to share the news about the first plenary speaker for the 24th ELTA Serbia International Conference!
Christopher Graham is an ELT author and consultant and the IATEFL President.
His plenary session is titled “(What’s So Funny ’Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding?” and it will explore how the combination of ELT and sustainability education can be a true force for good globally.
The plenary will examine the broader benefits of engaging with sustainability issues, including improved intercultural communication, cross-border problem-solving, enhanced skills and knowledge, and research-supported links to better mental health, as well as the benefits of sustainability engagement itself.
Christopher will also consider what learners need to engage with sustainability across borders, how teachers can support them effectively, and the challenges that may arise along the way.
Christopher Graham has worked in over 30 countries for the British Council, ministries of education, and international publishers. He has a specific interest in teaching contexts in fractured societies, the design and delivery of train-the-trainer courses, and the role of ELT in engaging with the climate crisis.
