The ELTAM MK Macedonian Mentoring Network (MMN) announces the online premiere of the documentary On Mentoring: Warmth, not Heat on Tuesday, 9 December 2025, at 2:00 PM GMT / 3:00 PM CET. The film presents an approach to mentoring that prioritises safety, clarity, and reflective dialogue.
The documentary was produced within the project “Consolidating and Scaling up Macedonian Mentoring Network (MMN)”, funded by the A. S. Hornby Educational Trust. It highlights the MMN’s use of Angi Malderez’s SIRP (Systematic Informed Reflective Practice, 2024) protocol to support non-judgemental post-lesson reflection. Within MMN, teachers alternate between human and AI-supported mentoring in Noticing, and the project is managed on Mosaic, the teacher development platform.
SIRP frames reflection in five steps:
- What happened?
- How can I understand this?
- What else do I know?
- Most likely explanation?
- So, what now?
During a private visit to North Macedonia in summer 2025, Angi Malderez met with MMN to discuss SIRP’s origins, how teachers learn, supporting noticing, the risk of learned helplessness from mentor comments, the value of arriving at one’s own informed decisions, the persistence required for development, and the importance of continual tinkering.
Registration is available at https://aisla.space/warmth-not-heat.
Registrants will receive the access link closer to the start time. The event is open to anyone interested in mentoring and teacher learning.
