Earlier in October, Aleksandra attended the ELT for Sustainability conference in Sarajevo—an event that combined professional development, inspiration, and genuine connection. Organised by Sabina Skenderović and Aleksandra Popovski, and supported by the British Council, the conference brought together educators from across the region who share a commitment to teaching English with purpose and an awareness of the world we live in.
What distinguished this event was its emphasis on practicality. Every session and workshop offered tangible classroom ideas rather than abstract theory. From creative lesson planning to sustainability-themed materials and projects, the programme demonstrated how global issues can be addressed meaningfully in everyday language teaching. Participants left with notebooks full of ready-to-use activities and, more importantly, with renewed motivation to help students think critically about the world.
