With the generous support of the British Council, ELTA is proud to introduce a new regional professional development initiative: Teaching Beyond Language: Integrating CLIL for Deeper Learning.
This program is designed to equip English language teachers from the Western Balkans with the expertise and practical tools to successfully implement CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) in their classrooms. By integrating subject matter with language instruction, CLIL promotes competence-based, learner-centred teaching, fostering deeper understanding and engagement among students in diverse educational settings.
As part of the initiative, 12 EFL teachers from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Kosovo, and North Macedonia will participate in a three-day, in-person training in Kragujevac, Serbia. The sessions will be led by Phil Ball, an internationally recognized CLIL specialist, in collaboration with ELTA’s experienced trainers, providing participants with both global insights and locally relevant guidance.
The overarching goal of the project is to strengthen the professional skills of EFL teachers across the Western Balkans by offering hands-on experience with effective CLIL methodologies. Participants will engage in interactive workshops, collaborative tasks, and reflective exercises, gaining practical strategies to design lessons that integrate language and content seamlessly, ultimately supporting holistic student development. In the coming weeks, we will announce the call for applications.
Beyond individual learning, the project aims to foster cross-regional cooperation, encouraging teachers to share best practices, build lasting professional connections, and contribute to the advancement of innovative teaching approaches in their respective countries.
