Florence, Italy—a city of art, history, and inspiration—recently served as the stunning backdrop for Marija Pejatović’s professional growth, thanks to a fully-funded Erasmus+ course at the Europass Teacher Academy.
Marija, an English language teacher at Oxford School in Leskovac, was selected through ELTA Serbia to attend the course titled Conflict Management, Emotional Intelligence and Bullying Prevention. In this dynamic environment, enriched by the legacy of the Renaissance, she explored new ways to enhance her teaching practice, handle classroom conflicts effectively, foster emotional intelligence, and proactively prevent bullying.
Located in the very heart of Florence, the course offered an ideal balance of focused morning workshops and relaxed afternoons for exploration. Each morning began with lively conversations over coffee, as teachers shared their adventures from the day before, guided by suggestions from their enthusiastic trainer, Layla.
Beyond the valuable insights gained in the classroom, Marija immersed herself in the wonders of Florence: admiring the breathtaking Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore (the Duomo), strolling across the iconic Ponte Vecchio, standing in awe before Michelangelo’s masterpiece, David, and capturing unforgettable views from Piazzale Michelangelo.
Despite the occasional rainy skies, Florence provided a remarkable and memorable setting for professional and personal growth. Reflecting warmly on the experience, Marija wholeheartedly encourages other educators to seize similar opportunities provided by ELTA Serbia.
And yes—let’s not forget the irresistible aromas and delicious flavours of Italian cuisine, because, after all, it’s Italy!
